Fire came to Prodigal Akitas in February 2003 from her breeder,
Marianne Southall (Valamar Akitas). As soon as she arrived, we knew
that Fire was a "Diamond In The Rough". We already knew that she had
done remarkable winning as a Puppy, including Group Placements and a
Best Puppy In Show win as pictured on the right. Little did we know
what the 2003 Show Season held in store for this remarkable, record
setting bitch.

When Fire first arrived at our kennel we were astounded by her
phenomenal side gait and extraordinarily clean movement coming and
going. As the video still on the left shows, there are few Akitas
(either dog or bitch) that would capable of matching her stride by
stride. Primarily shown and expertly presented by Jennifer
McClintock during the 2003 Show Season, Fire's reputation as a
movement powerhouse grew swiftly once the outdoor show season began.

As her reputation grew, so did her wins, with Group Placement after
Group Placement from both Canadian and International Judges. In
fact, by the time Fire finished the 2003 Show Season, her numerous
awards resulted in her setting new Canadian Breed Records in terms
of the # of single season Group Placements by a Bitch, as well as
for the # of dogs defeated in a single season by a Bitch. In the
picture on the right, Fire is being awarded Group 1st by long time
Judge Arnie Berg, following a very impressive Breed win that day
over many Special Males.

As we said above, the 2003 Show Season proved to be a fantastic run
for Fire. The photo on the left was yet another Group 1st, this time
under Judge Avery Gaudin. With Ms. Gaudin being an Afghan Breeder,
we were thrilled with the win and her comments on Fire's beauty,
movement and type. On this day, Fire faced competition at Group
Level from many of the top dogs in their breeds in Canada.

From the United States, Canada or Mexico... some longtime judges and
some new Judges..... with Fire it just doesn't matter. She simply
was (and still is) a stellar example of everything a top quality
Akita Bitch can and should be. From her type and coat to her awesome
temperament and stunning movement, Fire is correct to all points of
the standard and we consider ourselves fortunate that her Breeder
had sent her to Prodigal Akitas for her Campaign Year. Want to see
